How to Do Art on a Daily Basis

Quick Sketch Inspiration: Parallel a Magazine

One project that I’ve been doing lately is doing a quick paint sketch of a beautiful layout in a magazine. These images are all based on the most recent Anthropologie catalog (who knew your bed could be an art piece?!). Their attention to layout, textures and colors make their catalog such a great starting point for doing lovely and lush watercolor sketches.

And – in order to keep them short – I give myself only 7-10 minutes per sketch. If the paper is too wet, I’ll take a break from it and come back, but overall no piece exceeds 10 minutes.

Such a fun and playful experience – I highly recommend it! And I love juxtaposing photographs with watercolors after I’m done.
