Giving Back

Made these little trinkets to give out at the Exploratorium in SF.

Giving back 50% of all sales proceeds is now part of the Esoterica store policy.

My friend told me that every year she passes out Hershey kisses and candy canes when she takes her daughter to the exploratorium for her birthday. This year she invited me along, so I made little jewelry packets for the museum employees.

I am sure that many of the guards (oops, I mean Explainers)¬†are used to not being addressed or even looked at – an awfully isolating feeling for what is actually a hospitality role. I feel disrespectful, as if I shouldn’t be staring at them, but only at the art or exhibit. This is something I’ve only encountered with a librarian – as someone who is there to provide guidance, as well as ensure that the institution’s property and rules are respected.

Hopefully this will be a way to sidestep that hesitation.

  1. I’m an Explainer (read: guard) at the Exploratorium. I’d just like to say thank you for visiting and that I really appreciated the jewelry. It was very kind of you to think of us. So – thank you! And happy holidays!
